Cookie Policy
Last updated: January 25, 2025
This Cookie Policy explains how QR Code Maker uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website or use our services.
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your personal information.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide information to website owners, and enhance your browsing experience.
Cookies can be "first-party" (set by us) or "third-party" (set by other companies whose services we use). They can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).
Cookies We Use
We categorize the cookies we use into the following groups:
Essential Cookies (Always Active)
These cookies are necessary for our website to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as logging in, setting privacy preferences, or filling out forms.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
sb-*-auth-token | Authentication session (Supabase) | Session / 1 year |
__stripe_mid | Stripe fraud prevention | 1 year |
__stripe_sid | Stripe session identifier | 30 minutes |
cookie_consent | Stores your cookie preferences | 1 year |
You can set your browser to block these cookies, but some parts of the site may not work properly without them.
Analytics Cookies (With Your Consent)
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously. We use this data to improve our service.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics - distinguishes users | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics 4 - maintains session state | 2 years |
Analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you consent to them. You can withdraw your consent at any time through our cookie settings.
Advertising Cookies (With Your Consent)
These cookies are used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns and track conversions. They help us understand which ads lead to signups and purchases, allowing us to improve our marketing.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_gcl_au | Google Ads - stores conversion data | 90 days |
_gcl_aw | Google Ads - tracks ad clicks | 90 days |
Advertising cookies are only set if you consent to them. We use conversion tracking to measure the success of our ads but do not use cookies to serve personalized ads to you on other websites.
Payment Cookies
When you make a purchase or manage your subscription, our payment processor Stripe may set cookies to process your transaction securely and prevent fraud.
For more information about Stripe's cookies, please visit Stripe's Cookie Policy.
QR Code Scan Tracking
Privacy-First Scan Analytics
We take a privacy-first approach to tracking QR code scans. We collect aggregate analytics data to help you understand how your QR codes perform, but we do not build individual profiles of people who scan QR codes.
When someone scans a dynamic QR code created with QR Code Maker, we collect limited information to provide you with scan analytics:
- Scan timestamp: When the QR code was scanned
- Approximate location: Country, region, and city (derived from IP address via Vercel's geo-location headers)
- Device information: Device type (mobile, desktop, tablet), operating system, and browser
- Referrer: Where the scan came from (if available)
What We Don't Do
- We do not store full IP addresses - they are hashed for aggregation only
- We do not set cookies on people who scan QR codes
- We do not track individual scanners across multiple QR codes
- We do not build behavioral profiles of QR code scanners
- We do not sell or share scanner data with third parties
The scan data we collect is used solely to provide aggregate analytics to QR code creators (e.g., "50 scans from the United States", "30% mobile devices").
Third-Party Cookies
In addition to our own cookies, we may use cookies from the following third-party services:
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about your visit, including pages viewed, time spent on pages, and how you arrived at our site.
Google may use this data in accordance with their privacy policy. You can learn more and opt out at Google Analytics Opt-out.
Google Ads
We use Google Ads conversion tracking to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. When you sign up or make a purchase after clicking one of our ads, we record this conversion to help us improve our marketing. We do not use Google Ads to serve personalized advertisements to you on other websites.
Learn more about Google's advertising practices at Google Advertising Policies.
Stripe
Our payment processor Stripe uses cookies for payment processing and fraud prevention. These cookies are essential for secure transactions. Learn more at Stripe Privacy Policy.
Supabase
Our authentication provider Supabase sets cookies to maintain your logged-in session securely. These are essential for the service to function.
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
Cookie Consent
When you first visit our website, you will see a cookie consent banner that allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in our website footer.
Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Here's how to manage cookies in popular browsers:
Please note that blocking all cookies may affect your experience on our website. Essential cookies are required for basic functionality like logging in and maintaining your session.
Do Not Track
Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing not be tracked. Currently, there is no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals.
Our website does not currently respond to DNT signals. However, you can manage your cookie preferences through our consent banner and opt out of analytics cookies at any time.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about our use of cookies.
