Beaconstac Alternative: What to Know After the Uniqode Rebrand (2026)

Beaconstac rebranded to Uniqode in January 2024. Here's what changed for existing customers, what didn't, and how QR Code Maker compares on billing and cancellation policies.

Beaconstac is now Uniqode. The parent company (originally MobStac, founded in Bangalore in 2012) rebranded on January 10, 2024 (PR Newswire), and beaconstac.com now redirects to uniqode.com. Existing Beaconstac QR codes keep working — you're just paying Uniqode now.

This page covers what that rebrand changed for former Beaconstac customers, what it didn't, and how QR Code Maker's policies compare today.

2026 update — two years after the rebrand

Re-verified June 2026. The Beaconstac → Uniqode transition is now two years old; beaconstac.com still redirects to uniqode.com, existing Beaconstac codes still resolve under active Uniqode subscriptions, and Uniqode's annual-only billing structure (paid plans from $9/mo to $399/mo, billed yearly) is unchanged. The cancellation rule that broke trust for many former Beaconstac customers — "dynamic QR codes will only expire if your Uniqode account is canceled" — also remains in Uniqode's help docs. If you still hold a legacy Beaconstac plan grandfathered through the migration, check the Uniqode dashboard's billing tab to see the current renewal terms before the next cycle.

Will my Beaconstac codes keep working in 2026?

Yes, as long as your Uniqode subscription remains active and current. The redirect from beaconstac.com to uniqode.com is still live, and Uniqode's commitment that "all existing Beaconstac QR codes continue to work without any interruption" has held since the January 2024 rebrand. Two caveats: codes stop resolving the moment your Uniqode account is canceled, and any "lifetime" benefits attached to legacy Beaconstac plans may not transfer to renewals.

What Changed in the Rebrand

Branding and pricing tier names changed. The underlying platform didn't.

Per Uniqode's announcement: "All existing Beaconstac QR codes continue to work without any interruption" (Uniqode blog). Same team, same infrastructure, same feature set. Account migrations happened automatically; Beaconstac logins redirect to Uniqode logins.

Some existing customers report less-clean transitions:

  • Plan tier names were replaced (Lite → Essential, Pro → Core, Plus → Plus, Business → Business+)
  • Features were re-slotted between tiers, in several cases moving benefits customers had paid for into higher-priced plans
  • Annual renewal prices increased, with one Trustpilot reviewer reporting their cost went from $180/year to nearly $550/year without notice
  • A recurring complaint: "lifetime analytics" benefits that came with older Beaconstac plans were not honored under Uniqode

These reports are concentrated in Trustpilot reviews filed between early 2024 and 2026. Uniqode's aggregate Trustpilot rating is 3.8/5 across 19 reviews as of April 2026.

What Didn't Change: Cancellation Behavior

The cancellation policy is the same before and after the rebrand. Uniqode's help docs state it directly:

"Your dynamic QR Codes will only expire if your Uniqode account is canceled." (source)

Every dynamic code stops resolving when the subscription ends, whether it's on a restaurant menu, a business card, signage, or packaging. Scans hit an error page.

For a company originally built on printed marketing integrations and NFC tags, that policy has real consequences when materials are already in circulation.

QR Code Maker's Approach

The fair cancellation policy at QR Code Maker avoids that scenario. Three guarantees:

  1. Static codes work forever. The URL or WiFi credentials live in the pattern. No server dependency, no subscription. True for any real static code regardless of generator.
  2. The oldest active dynamic code stays on the free plan after downgrade or full cancellation.
  3. Codes beyond the free-tier limit retain their last destination in view-only mode. Scans still resolve; you just can't edit without resubscribing.

Read Before You Print

Before printing QR codes on anything meant to last (signage, packaging, business cards), read the generator's cancellation policy. Uniqode's is here. Ours is here. The practical difference is whether your printed materials still work if you stop paying.

Pricing Comparison

Uniqode (formerly Beaconstac) as of April 2026

PlanMonthly Cost (billed annually)Dynamic QRsAnnual Scans
Essential$950500,000
Core$492501,000,000
Plus$995002,000,000
Business+$399UnlimitedUnlimited

Monthly billing is not offered on the public pricing page. The 14-day trial typically requires a credit card. Refunds are only granted within 30 days of first payment (Uniqode refund policy).

Tier jumps are steep: Essential to Core is a 5.4× increase. If you outgrow 50 dynamic codes, the next tier is $49/month billed annually.

What Uniqode Does Well

Uniqode has real strengths:

  • Enterprise compliance posture: SOC 2 Type 2, HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001:2022, SAML SSO on higher tiers
  • NFC hardware: Uniqode sells physical NFC tags alongside QR codes — a direct line from their Beaconstac origin
  • Integration breadth: 400+ native integrations including Salesforce, HubSpot, Workato, Entra ID
  • Digital business card product: Uniqode Cards is a dedicated SKU for org-wide vCard programs
  • Fortune 500 customer references: Marriott, Hilton, Nestlé, Toyota, Deloitte Digital

If NFC hardware or a dedicated digital-business-card SKU is a hard requirement, Uniqode is the better fit. QR Code Maker focuses on QR code generation, dynamic code management, and scan analytics, built on SOC 2 Type II certified infrastructure (Vercel, Supabase, Stripe).

Choose QR Code Maker If:

  • You were a Beaconstac customer frustrated by post-rebrand pricing changes
  • You don't need NFC hardware or Uniqode Cards
  • You're a small business, creator, or mid-market company — not Fortune 500 enterprise
  • You want monthly billing without a 12-month commitment
  • You want the cancellation policy in plain language before you sign up, not after

Migration: Moving from Beaconstac/Uniqode to QR Code Maker

  1. Export your static QR code images from Uniqode (SVG/PNG). Static codes work independently of any platform — once exported, they're yours forever.
  2. For dynamic codes in active circulation, recreate them in QR Code Maker. The short URL will change, so existing printed Beaconstac/Uniqode codes continue working only as long as the Uniqode subscription remains active.
  3. Plan cutovers around campaign cycles. If codes are on long-lifespan materials (signage, packaging), prefer static codes going forward. Dynamic codes require an ongoing subscription with whichever provider hosts them — including us — so the safest long-life codes are always static.

FAQ

Is Beaconstac still a separate platform?

No. Beaconstac rebranded to Uniqode on January 10, 2024. beaconstac.com redirects to uniqode.com. The product team, infrastructure, and feature set are now Uniqode.

Do my existing Beaconstac QR codes still work?

Yes, as long as your Uniqode subscription is active. Per Uniqode's announcement, existing Beaconstac codes continued to function through the rebrand without interruption.

What happens to Beaconstac/Uniqode dynamic codes when I cancel?

Per Uniqode's documentation, dynamic QR codes stop resolving when the account is canceled. Static codes continue to work because the data is encoded in the pattern, but the platform's core product is dynamic codes.

Why did my Beaconstac bill increase after the rebrand?

Per published Trustpilot reviews, some Beaconstac customers saw annual renewal prices increase and features re-slotted into higher tiers post-rebrand. Uniqode's current pricing structure is the best source for what tiers exist today; compare your old Beaconstac plan against the current Uniqode tier to understand the change.

Is QR Code Maker SOC 2 certified?

Yes. QR Code Maker runs on SOC 2 Type II certified infrastructure — Vercel for compute, Supabase for database, Stripe for payments. End-to-end, this is the same security posture most enterprise SaaS advertise.

Can I use my exported Beaconstac static QR codes without any platform?

Yes. Static QR codes encode the destination directly in the pattern. Once you have the image file, no server is required. This is one of the reasons static codes are the safer choice for anything printed once and expected to last.
