Audio QR Codes
Create an audio QR code for MP3, WAV, or AAC files. Scanners hear your track on a hosted player with title, artist name, and album art. Free to try.
Audio QR codes link to an audio file or streaming page. Perfect for musicians sharing tracks, tour guides providing audio commentary, or businesses sharing podcasts and audio content.
What It Does
When someone scans, they're taken to a page where they can play your audio file. We host the player page, making it easy to share without setting up your own website.

What You Can Include
Audio file: Upload your MP3, WAV, OGG, or AAC file directly.
Track title: The name of the track displayed on the player page.
Artist name: Credit the creator or your business name.
Album art: Optional cover image that displays alongside the player.
File Size Limit
Audio files can be up to 50MB. For longer content like full podcast episodes, consider hosting elsewhere and using a Website QR to link to it.
Creating an Audio QR Code
Step 1: Click + Create QR Code and select MP3 Audio.
Step 2: Upload your audio file or paste a URL to an existing audio file.
Step 3: Add track title, artist name, and album art (optional but recommended).
Step 4: Customize your QR code design and download.
Use Cases
Musicians: Share singles, demo tracks, or sample clips. Print on posters, business cards, or CD packaging.
Audio tours: Museums, galleries, historical sites, walking tours. Each location gets its own audio QR.
Podcasters: Share specific episodes. Print on promotional materials.
Education: Lecture recordings, language lessons, pronunciation guides.
Real estate: Audio property descriptions for open houses.
Restaurants: Chef's commentary on signature dishes.
Author readings: Audiobook samples, author reading excerpts.
The Player Experience
When visitors scan, they see:
- Album art (if you added one)
- Track title and artist
- Play/pause controls
- Progress bar for seeking
- Volume control
The page is mobile-optimized and works on any smartphone browser—no app needed.
Dynamic QR Code
Audio QR codes are dynamic, which means:
- Update the audio file anytime without reprinting the QR code
- Track scans to see engagement analytics
- Replace content if you release an updated version
- Change metadata (title, artist, art) as needed
This is a dynamic QR code, so it uses one of your dynamic QR code credits.
Supported Formats
| Format | Extension | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MP3 | .mp3 | Most compatible, recommended |
| WAV | .wav | Larger files, lossless quality |
| OGG | .ogg | Open format, good compression |
| AAC | .aac, .m4a | Apple format, good quality |
MP3 is recommended for best compatibility across all devices.
Tips
Keep files reasonable. A 3-minute song at 320kbps is about 7MB—that's fine. A 2-hour podcast at high bitrate may hit limits.
Add album art. A visual makes the player page more engaging and professional.
Test on different phones. Make sure audio plays smoothly on both iPhone and Android.
Consider audio quality vs. file size. 128kbps is fine for voice; 256-320kbps for music.
Audio QR vs Other Options
| Need | Best Option |
|---|---|
| Share Spotify/Apple Music | Website QR with streaming link |
| Share SoundCloud track | Website QR |
| Self-host audio file | Audio QR |
| Podcast episode on Apple/Spotify | Website QR |
| Audio not on streaming services | Audio QR |
Use Audio QR when you have the audio file itself. Use Website QR when your content is already hosted on streaming platforms.
Common Questions
Can listeners download the file? Currently the player is stream-only. For downloadable files, host elsewhere and use a Website QR.
What's the maximum file size? 50MB per file. For larger files, consider compressing or hosting on a dedicated platform.
Can I password-protect the audio? Not currently. If privacy is needed, consider hosting on a platform with access controls.
How long is the file stored? As long as your account is active and the QR code exists.
Can I upload multiple tracks? Each Audio QR links to one file. For multiple tracks, create separate QR codes or use a Bio Link with links to each.
