Email & SMS QR Codes

Create QR codes that open pre-filled emails or text messages.

Email and SMS QR codes let users contact you with one scan. The email or text opens pre-filled—they just hit send.

Email QR Codes

When someone scans, their email app opens with your address in the "To" field. You can also pre-fill the subject line and message body. They tap Send and you get the email.

Use Cases

  • Customer feedback – "Questions? Scan to email us" on receipts and packaging
  • Support requests – Pre-fill the subject with product name or order number
  • Business cards – Quick way to let people email you
  • Appointment requests – Pre-fill "Subject: Appointment Request"

Creating an Email QR Code

Click + Create QR Code, select Email, enter your email address, optionally add a subject line and body text, and download.

What You Can Pre-fill

FieldWhat it doesExample
ToYour email addresssupport@company.com
SubjectPre-filled subject"Product Question"
BodyPre-filled message"Hi, I have a question about..."
CCCopy someonemanager@company.com
BCCBlind copytracking@company.com

Pre-filling the subject with context ("Feedback for Product X") makes it much easier to sort incoming emails.

SMS QR Codes

When scanned, the messaging app opens with your number in the "To" field and optionally a pre-filled message. They tap Send and you get the text.

Use Cases

  • Customer service – "Text us for support" on products and receipts
  • Short codes – Works with marketing short codes ("Text JOIN to 12345")
  • Appointments – "Text CONFIRM to confirm your appointment"
  • Sales inquiries – "Text QUOTE for a price"
  • Polls – "Text A, B, or C to vote"

Creating an SMS QR Code

Click + Create QR Code, select SMS, enter your phone number (include country code like +1 for US), optionally add a pre-filled message, and download.

Include the country code for international compatibility (+1 for US, +44 for UK, etc.).

Phone QR Codes

Phone QR codes simply initiate a call. Scan, and the phone app opens with your number dialed. User taps "Call."

Good for customer service hotlines, sales lines, emergency contacts, or business cards.

Static vs Dynamic

All three types (Email, SMS, Phone) can be static or dynamic.

Static: Free forever, but can't be changed after creating. No analytics.

Dynamic: Uses a dynamic code slot, but you can update the details anytime and see scan analytics.

For business use, dynamic is usually better. If your email or phone number changes, you can update it without reprinting anything. See our static vs dynamic guide for more.

Tips

For email: Use a monitored address, pre-fill useful subject lines, set up auto-replies if needed.

For SMS: Use a dedicated business number, keep pre-filled messages short, consider that SMS costs money for some recipients.

For phone: Use a dedicated line, staff it appropriately, consider hours of operation, set up voicemail.

Want Multiple Contact Options?

Create a Business Page QR code and add email, SMS, and phone as buttons. Let users pick their preferred method.

Common Questions

Do users need data/WiFi? Phone and SMS use cellular—no data needed. Email may need data to send immediately.

What if my number or email changes? With dynamic codes, update instantly. Static codes need to be recreated.

Can I use a short code for SMS? Yes, just enter the short code in the number field.

Does pre-filled text always work? On most phones, yes. Very old devices might not include it.

What about WhatsApp? For WhatsApp, use a WhatsApp-specific link instead of a standard SMS code.
